The Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture -IICA is pleased to invite you to the presentation of the document "Rural connectivity in Latin America and the Caribbean: a bridge to sustainable development in a time of pandemic". Digital transformation is triggering an unprecedented technological revolution that is defining the development of societies on a global scale. This expansion of the digital world is opening up new opportunities at the social, production, and recreational level that impact human activities, which are increasingly influenced by information and communications technologies. Given the contribution of digital technologies to agrifood system transformation in LAC, since the start of the pandemic, the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA) has become an advocate for the development of rural connectivity - producing documents, hosting seminars with experts and creating a significant media presence, in a bid to drive the agenda in relation to this problem. The document that is being presented represents a starting point in establishing actions to provide quality services that will enable greater digital equity among persons, as well as between rural and urban areas. It pulls together information that will facilitate an assessment of the current obstacles to the implementation of digital technologies.
