Belize National Rural Development Strategy 2026-2030
Belize's National Rural Development Strategy (NRDS) 2026-2030 establishes a coordinated, evidence-based national framework to advance inclusive, resilient and sustainable rural transformation. The Strategy is structured around four strategic axes: Partnership, Prosperity, People and Places, and integrates two cross-cutting approaches: inclusion, with a focus on gender, youth and culture, and climate change resilience. Its roadmap comprises 14 lines of action and 32 flagship initiatives designed to address structural constraints to rural development, including land insecurity, high financial costs, market failures and infrastructure gaps in roads and basic services. The preparation process included a strategic diagnosis, more than 40 expert interviews, eight community dialogues across all six districts involving more than 190 rural stakeholders, and technical consultations leading to final validation of the roadmap.
