Resources come from sovereign green bond issuances managed by the Government of Canada, allocated according to the country’s Green Bond Framework. During the 2023–2024 period, funds were directed to projects with measurable impacts on greenhouse gas emissions reduction and climate resilience enhancement. The initiative supports the transition to a low-carbon and sustainable economy. Its implementation adheres to ICMA Green Bond Principles and international environmental disclosure standards.

Mexico-Canada Agreements to Promote Agri-Food Trade with the Inclusion of Indigenous Peoples
Mexico and Canada agreed to strengthen bilateral cooperation to diversify the agri-food supply, facilitate trade, improve business linkages, and preserve the integration of North American supply chains. The agreements prioritize opportunities for Indigenous Peoples and communities through trade in their products, the strengthening of productive capacities, and their integration into markets. The authorities also explored regulatory and technical cooperation strategies and exchanged experiences concerning territorial and community-based models, including Farmer Field Schools and Mexico's Sembrando Vida program. These actions contribute to the implementation of the Mexico-Canada Action Plan 2025-2028 and seek to promote fair, inclusive, and rules-based trade benefiting producers, businesses, and consumers in both countries.
Expansion of AgriStability to Include Pasture-Related Feed Costs
The Government of Canada announced an expansion of AgriStability to include pasture-related feed costs as an allowable expense beginning with the 2026 program year. The measure aims to provide more equitable support for livestock producers whose animals graze on land they do not own, particularly cow-calf, sheep and goat farmers who rely on rented pastureland. The update strengthens business risk management tools to protect producers against large income declines resulting from production losses, rising costs or market conditions.
Canadian Food Banks Reduce Services Amid Rising Demand
The article reports that food banks across Canada are changing their services amid unprecedented demand, including reducing visit frequency, the amount of food provided or wraparound supports. Rising use is linked to inflation, income insecurity, housing and food costs, and declining donation capacity, affecting both large cities and smaller communities.
